Laser Etched Charger

Jul 18, 2010

This was an experiment done for a friend who does some wedding planning.  It’s a monogram etch on an inexpensive plastic charger with a silver coating over dark plastic.  It etched well, but was a bit slow.  If we did it again, we could probably speed it up significantly by running it at 400 dpi.
Perhaps the best recommendation for it though, is a nice, dark black mark with no aftermarket product applications.  The lack of a messy pretreatment helps contain costs, and greatly reduces set up and prep time, as well as cleanup on the back end.

It’s an interesting piece that provides a level of sophistication and customization that falls between relatively inexpensive plastic chargers, and much higher dollar glass or ceramic ones, but not one we’ve had the time to investigate further yet.
